CITY OF ROCKS STATE PARK

Explore among large sculptured rock formations in the shape of pinnacles or boulders raising as high as 40 feet.


BEAR CANYON LAKE

If you love a good gold game, Silver City Gold Course surprises visitors with a delightful tree-lined parkland layout running along lush creek bottomland several miles from downtown Silver City.  


GILA NATIONAL FOREST

The Gila National Forest offers many natural attractions to the visitor.  Each provides a unique experience.  These range from accessibly trails at the Catwalk, historical insights at the Gild Cliff Dwellings, or the serenity of hiking the the wilderness. 


WILD, WILD WEST PRO RODEO (JUNE)

​Annual PRCA Rodeo features high-flying bull-riding, fast riding, roping and much more all under cool evening New Mexico skies.

GILA CLIFF DWELLINGS NATIONAL MONUMENT EVENTS

(June - October) Explore the world of ancestors of Puebloan people who lived in the Mogollon area over 700 years ago.  Full calendar of daily guided tours of archeological sites each weekend.

TOUR OF THE GILA BICYCLE RACE (April-May)

A milti-day stage race throughout the Gila National Forest and the National Scenic Byway in Grant and Catron Counties. 


GILA RIVER FESTIVAL (September)

Three-day interpretive event focused on increasing the awareness of the natural and cultural heritage of the Gila River and its watershed. 


MIMBRES VALLEY HARVEST FESTIVAL (September)

Every fall, the families of the Mimbres Valley come together to share their love of the valley.  A farmers market, craft fair, music and food are offered.  


MIMBRES CULTURE HERITAGE SITE 

Experience a world famous archaeological site.  Mattocks Ruin is a collection of large pit houses and pueblo villages superimposed as the Mimbres people rebuilt their homes from 550 to 1140 CE.  The main site has approximately 200 rooms.


FORT BAYARD DAYS (3rd week in September)

Learn about fort and frontier life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. 


RED PAINT POW WOW (January)

Silver City (Grant County) is the original homeland of the Chiricahua Apache, who have come together as a group to provide stability to the population of Native Americans in this area. 


BIRDING IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO (Year-round)

SW New Mexico has a reputation for being a birders' paradise! The Gila National Forest attracts over 300 species.
